Once the trial period is over, am I right in thinking an app will not be able to make calls to the database in the cloud?

Splash 9 Problem
So Ive created a splash 9 image using a tool. Ive tried both 426 x 320 and 162 x 162, the media manager and uploading through source, renaming the file to splash.9.png, but I either get no image, or the image is stretched,. Get random rows from a database
I would like to recall 5 random and unique rows from a database.
I have my database, its connected, am getting results from a 'where', but would like to display on a page 5 random results.
