I should clarify the case I am talking about is when the user is not within the application. I thought the push notification event is only for when the user is within the app correct?
Actually it does work but inconsistently (updates some times). There was a typo above in the method call. Should be setApplicationIconBadgeNumber

Does push initialize event only fire on start page? Can I cause it to fire on a different page?
