Unsupport Cordova Plugins

It is apparent that many Cordova plugins are not supported by Appery anymore. This is due to the Cordova version changes in Appery.

I need to understand two things.

  1. Cordova Plugin Developers come and go and do NOT upgrade their plugins every time there is a Cordova version change. This may point to a trend of people moving away from Cordova, I am not sure and would like to know opinions???
  2. As a developer that has been using the Appery platform for many years, I become dependent on quite these plugins. This is posing a problem due to the fact that older Cordova plugins are not supported by Appery anymore. If there were alternative plugins that do the same job, it would be fine, however I am not seeing these alternatives. That means, no plugin = no app because many times the core functionality of an app depends on these plugins. Unless I build an plugin myself or code the tech myself, I am up the creek without a paddle. My issue is, that I signed up and commited to Appery because of the fact that Appery advertises the support of Cordova?????

My question is...... WHAT NOW?

Hello,

There are so many plugins out there that are broken or outdated so it sometimes takes some time to try applying several plugins before you can go with the one that fits your goal.
If you using the Ionic 4 framework, please check this tutorial: https://docs.appery.io/docs/ionic-4-soc ... n-tutorial

I am using JQM.

I have suggested that you split your forum into JQM and IONIC. This will save time for everyone.

This is a really good idea.
Thanks for sharing it.
Our developers are already looking into implementing such an option into the forum space.
