elements delete themselves

This happened twice: I had added numerous elements, including two data tables, many buttons, etc. I was adding another element, the screen froze for a moment, then most of my elements were gone EVEN THOUGH I HAD SAVED the project. When I open the saved project, the elements are still gone. Which sucks.
