Actually I will comment because you people need to realise that you cant just do what you want without realising the consequences of your actions......
I have been on your dev platform for over three years. Over this period I have not had anything but frustration. I have stuck it out as I had allready commited projects. I was hoping that things would get better. It has not, in actual fact things get worse. Stuff that used to work stop working becuase of your endless updates and changes.
Now in reply to your points......
Using API Express is not a viable solution for two reasons....
a. Converting all existing projects will kill me as this would be so time consuming.
b. But more importantly is that the latency to your API Express server is a killer. Pulling data through your middleware server just times out!. You guys did not think that model through. It does not work for countries like South Africa!!!!
c. Anyway, your MS SQL connector does not work. It does not allow for connection to named instances of MS SQL
Conclusion to your suggestion 1. Please dont make a suggestion that does not work. I would suggest you people do your homework properly before putting stuff out there that has no value.
Using server code. Please elaborate on this. Are you telling my I have to write my own connectors in server code???? This is absurd for two reasons......
a. Your platform is supposed to speedup development time not Kill it.
b. Again, using your middleware server to connect to a database in South Africa is DOES NOT WORK.
Wow. Because you guys make a change on your side, you expect everyone to add SSL to their servers. These databases are sitting on client servers that have been running for many years. You tell my clients to upgrade. You cant force people to use SSL if they do not have the need to do so!!!! Then you contradict by saying you dont have to worry about https once the app is compiled. Really does not make sense.
In conclusion. Explain how your old tester app handles http connection from https?
As a matter of fact, please make the APK available of the previous version of the tester for Android. So that I can downgrade and at least be able to test my apps on Android.
I upgraded the tester but should not have. Luckily I still use the old tester on IOS and that works fine.
So what I suggest is that you have two versions available for your tester..... An http and an https solution..... PROBLEM SOLVED!
