Getting Started using a blank template

Hello everyone,
Happy belated new year.

I am new at building apps and wanting to create one for the purposes of installing into our in-vehicle hardware. And at the same time, I didn't feel like paying $20,000.00 for an app which would never be to our specification.

I started with the Blank template and wanting to get everything set up such as the login page, and subsequent pages which (hopefully) will allow for a permanent menu vertically on the left side of the page (Landscape orientation)

If I may, I would like to ask some (call it) silly questions to get started;

Firstly, can you advise wether Appery will allow for apps to be built for Android 5.0 devices and above?

Secondly, Can you advise how I can change the background colour for all pages

Lastly, Can a permanent menu be embedded into the app that would access all pages on the app? (Left orientation, vertical)

Thank you in advance,
Michael

Re: Getting Started using a blank template

Dear Michael,

I am happy to say that all of your requirements can be met if you decide to build your app with Appery.io:

  1. We support apps built for Android 4.1 – 10.x: https://docs.appery.io/docs/general-dev ... ed-devices
  2. Background colors can be changed for all app pages: https://docs.appery.io/docs/ionic-4-the ... ion-colors
  3. Menu can also be added to your app. You can learn here how to do that: https://docs.appery.io/docs/ionic-4-menu-tutorial.

Have a happy New Year!

Hello Galyna,
Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your answers, they have helped with what we want to achieve.

I like the option of the menu. However the option I want is to have the menu permanently on all pages, except for the login page.

The screen orientation is landscape and the menu would be place vertically on the left side. Can this be achieved?

Thank you in advance,
Michael

Re: Getting Started using a blank template

Dear Michael,

Sure, you can create a menu bar page template and use that template for the required pages in your application: https://docs.appery.io/docs/ionic-4-app-templates
Also, you can set only the landscape orientation in the app settings for iOS and Android apps.

Thank you for that.

One of the components of this app will be online turn by turn GPS Navigation, which will use an API Key provided by either TomTom or Here (Formerly Navteq).

Does the App builder support this straight off the shelf, or will we need to get in detail with the API provided by either company?

Re: Getting Started using a blank template

Hi,

Yes, such an application can be implemented with the Appery.io platform.
Unfortunately, there is no ready solution for the mentioned providers at the moment.
However, it will not be an issue to integrate their API with our platform. Please check here for more information: https://docs.appery.io/docs/general-faq (section Can I connect my app to <insert_service_name> API?).
You can also watch our videos or search for documentation to learn how to do it: https://docs.appery.io/docs/servercode- ... l-rest-api or https://docs.appery.io/docs/servercode- ... l-rest-api.

Many thanks for that.

I apologise for being a hassle. I just had a spanner thrown in the works. Does Appery support developing Apps for Linux?

Hello,

You are welcome.
Unfortunately, Appery.io doesn't support app development for the Linux OS. Please see the information about Device and Browser Support here: https://docs.appery.io/docs/general-dev ... er-support
