Hi Sean.
Sorry for delay.
"Does this mean that setting localStorage vars anywhere in app when bound to a screen component that is mapped, is no longer reliable" - of course not.
All works fine.
But you have an error in mapping. That's why it's not working. (Probably you tested your service without object_id parameter and then pressed "Automatically Create Service Response".)
To correct this:
1) in dressagestar_horses_read_service in Response please uncheck Array near the $
2) in horsePage in Response mapping please delete mapping from $ to adGrid
