free alternatives to appery.io backend services

I am looking for a free server software to run on the server my company owns. It is ubuntu. What backend can I run that will most resemble customer console and or database functionality. If I move my app once its produced to another hosting provider, I lose the customer console and the database backend.

I love the front end, but the customer console doesn't provide all the functionality that we need in a customer portal.

I may end up using something like JQUERY EasyUI and building my own backend. This would expose my MySQL DB as JSON web service as well.
