FYI, cutteing and pasting into query fields seems to be at the root of the issue. I tried to paste the following JSON into the "where" field of my list service request: {"Assignee": {"$inQuery": {"_id": "5389cb82e4b0a73d895c8844"}}}. On Chrome v. 35.0.1916.114 (latest) the text field does not fill, and bad things begin to happen
