Hi Illya - on further testing, I don't believe it's a code problem, but a test problem. I posted to a new thread. When I found another device and was able to load the actual tester app, (not just use the QR link), I got

...my simple test to work, so now I should be able to clean up my app from all the false problems I was chasing. If I still can't get it I'll start a new thread.
