9-patch image

hi,
i have contacted appery support multiple times about 9patch images for my app... and one of the missing information is that i'm trying to use a splash image with logo and text, and i alway see it stretched.
so i searched the web about the capability of putting text into a 9patch image, but everybody tell to use them only as a background.
so if this is true, how one can create a splash screen image with a logo and text without having troubles with stretching?
