Where you try to save link? What component do you use?
May be you saving not only simple string codetel:*123%23/code? May be you copied and pasted it from browser, if so, you can copy some invisible chars. Try retype full url.

Hi - I think Anton was talking about invisible chars - that you're already copied them by pasting it in URL link.
And you must type them by hand - not copy them.
