It will be offered when creating a new project - along with Bootstrap, Ionic, Jquery app types.

I am sorry to hear no upgrade path for existing Ionic apps.
Will Ionic apps developed using the (old) Ionic template continue to receive library upgrades? Currently 2.0: Angular/Cordova(Android/iOS)
