I've got this working. Just use the new cordova plugin functionality added a week or two ago. Works fine!

I tried doing this but had to update my app to Library version 3.0 and whilst I had the Cordova plugin menu my app wouldn't start up.
I'm guessing you can only implement on new apps developed in this library version.
