This is very frustrating. Works ins jsfiddle and not appery.io. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please use Appery REST Services (https://devcenter.appery.io/documenta...) instead of xmlhttprequest

It could be a CORS issue. With another link your code is working without any issues in Appery.io
