If I make a JS change to an event, update that change, and then click the Save button, the save button turns dark but never returns to its normal color. The button to the left of Save operates normally (i.e. first turing dark and then light).

Could you provide the screenshots of your poblem?
Save button returns to it's normal colour once you do any change in builder.

Mystery solved - apparently appery has different behavior for the Save button. It is black until a change has been made that can be saved. It then changes to white to let you know a Save is needed. Once done, it stays black until a new change is made. It used to be that the button was only black while a save was being done. I may have missed it, but I don't recall seeing that change mentioned anywhere.
