receive data from other apps...

Hi,
I don't know where to find information on this topic, because I can't seem to find anything in the documentation or the forums:

Code: Select all

Is it possible to make an app receive data from other apps, such as when, for example, in the apple mail app you can select to open a viewed message with a list of other apps. How to get my app to show up there, and how to receive the shared data? Or say from any of the file managers, such as iFiles.

I am looking to give the user the ability to upload/share a text file in order to populate their database, and email seems a convenient way.

Any ideas and links, if this is possible and how?

I have exactly the same question.

@Gordon : When u install your app on your phone (via .APK) it will be visible automatically in the list inside the other app.

I want to be able to process the data that the other app is sending, any ideas how to catch this incoming data?

Please take a look at the next screenshot. The app called iMonitoring is my app (from Appery) wich I installed on my phone. It is visible automatically when I browse withing chrome to a webpage and press "Share" :

Thanks,

Peter

you mean you did not need to do anything special to get your app to show up there? There must be something built into appery.io then, because not all apps show up where I have apps that can share their info. For example, when I choose to share using PhotoshopTouch, then only certain apps appear, while others do not.

I have no idea - I am just getting started in all of this, but I need to know what is possible "in the box" and what I would need to find some plugin for, and what I need to actually code natively in xCode or some other platform specific IDE.

Hi Gordon,

No I didn't need to adjust any settings.

Thanks for the info, it seems like some of them offer proper sollutions. I Guess we are going to have to use an available plugin then to properly receive anything from another app. I'll look in to this from Thursday on.

If I find a solution i will be happy to share it with you.

Good luck,

Regards,

Peter
