The PayPal api - payment by credit card

I want people to be able to pay by credit card even if they don't have a PP account, will this be possible (assuming I can get the api to work that is)?

Tony,
I've done and created payments by credit card direct via Appery. Works great provided your your account has been upgraded to take direct credit cards ....
I've also used their credit card vault...

I think I want both options like you see on the PP MEC pages, so it would give the customer the option. I was hoping Appery would be able to work fairly easily so I could get my head round the various parts, but even following the tutorial to the letter it doesn't work.
