How to save a button with popup as "Custom Component"

I ended up developing a lot of code behind a button on a page (this is basically a drop down menu which is a popup). The menu has further popup for one of the buttons (already managed to get that working). The button, and the associated functionality, is working all well.

When I tried to save this button (which drops down a menu) as custom component, I can't find any such link when this button is in the header. When I drag the button down from the header the "Save as custom component" appears. When I save it as custom component, no functionality is saved into the custom component.

I am heartbroken, I can't replicate the complex functionality on each page individually. I really want this drop down menu saved as custom component so that I can drop it on several other pages. ....any help? :(

Hello,

Thank you for feedback. Let us test this more.

As a workaround create this custom component on the page (not header) and use where you need.

Alena, that is also an issue as I reported above. Even the creation of custom component on page does not work because the attached functionality does not get saved with custom component.

Further problems:

#1. Any button with a pop-up, when saved as a custom component does not save the popup along. The custom component thus saved does not work.

#2. There is no way to manually add a popup to a custom saved button.

hi xman,

I am a little new to appery but can that page be saved as a template?

And use that page template for every other page you create / add. I am not very sure whether it'll work the way you want but you can perhaps try that out while Appery support works out other ways of getting it to work :-)

I think your code will get replicated too, but just remember to add the "Work Area" component before you will be able to use that template for new page creation - I have added a screenshot of how the "Work Area" component looks like - as it is a little elusive - It will appear only when you select the template page. And once you add the work area component to the template, you are ready to use that page template as a starting / initial template for your new pages. When you add a new page with this page templage, do remember to break the component apart before you can see the events and stuff

Cheers,

Hi M&M,

That does not work when you already have tons of pages and are adding functionality in question later.

true xman. I dun really have much idea about the workings of your app. How about something like this - add a grid to the header...and move the button into the grid (1 row 1 col something?) ...and then try to save it as a custom component...any chances that would work?
