Thanks for your reply, have already solved the problem it's got to do with enabling the Google+ api in the Developer console for my app!
I have a similiar issue with a different error message 
Interesting. This may have been a cache issue or that I needed to enable the google plus api. Not sure exactly, but the issue is resolved.
