I run my app on my iPhone 4 in the browser. Then I did "Add to Home Screen" to have it on my phone desktop.
When I run the app from the home screen, the app is hiding the phone status line (top of phone) where clock, carrier, etc. appear.

Any idea?

Are other applications hiding the phone status line too? Did you try install your app as .ipa ?

By other apps you mean other Appery apps, or any apps?
I have same app on Codiqa (another dev platform) and did the same with the other app (run in browser, saved to home screen), and the other app does not hide the status bar.
No other app that I run causes this.

iOS 7.0.2 (latest). Safari
