Help navigating long list of collection columns for mapping

In my situation, for example, I've got a collection with several hundred columns. It would be enormously helpful to be able to find a particular column in the collection more quickly by at least being able to see the list sorted by column name, or preferably by use of a filter of some type. It would dramatically speed up the mapping process.
