Keeping text input visible after exiting browser and returning

Hi, I received the following reply to a quation on how I can stop text / checkbox input etc disappearing after someone exits the browser. An employee of Appery.io, replied to Keeping text box / input / checkbox responses visible, a question about Appery.io.
Hello! You can save values in localStorage and restore them on Load or Page Show event.
The problem is I am very new to appery.io and what I need is some step-by-step guidance on how to do this. I set up what I think is a local storage variable for a text box - but was lost after this. Can someone please help?! Thanks John
