Is there a way to receive push notifications from RSS feeds?

I have rss feeds from ESPN and i was wondering if i could be alerted when a new news article comes up. Is that possible? I am not trying to send them to other devices but to receive them from the site (if that makes sense)

I'm not sure if RSS feeds provide such capability in general. There are probably ways to do that but such functionality has to be coded.
