How to set up a local variable within Mapping?

Hello,
Would you kindly advise on how to set up a local variable? I worked a while ago with the previous version and I was able to do it, from what I recall and I can see in other questions, there was a green button that you can use to create a local variable, within Mapping. Now when I enter Mapping, I do not see that green button and I do not see any other option to do it... Please advise..
