Display image based on DB query

I have uploaded some files on to the DB Files section - sam.jpg, tom.jpg, liz.jpg
Based on a query I want to display it on my page which has an image component. If the query returns sam, I want to set the image source to sam.jpg.

Any pointers please? Thanks!
