cannot navigate away from page

After loading a google map component cannot navigate away from page.
A back button just takes us back to the top of the page.
If the app is run a second time without closing the browser, it functions correctly.
The following image shows the console error during initialisation:
As I said if the app is run again without closing the browser, there is no console error and the back button functions correctly taking me back to the previous page.
