Can I make an app that is suitable for smartphones as well as tablets?
So on smartphones it works in portrait mode, and on tablets in landscape mode.
And if it's not possible, how can i reuse the screens and code that I made for the smartphone app when I start developing the tablet app?

Appery.io uses jQuery Mobile components and they will resize based on screen size. Appery.io maintain this design too.
And you can make backup of your project for smartphones and then edit it for tablets.
I too am struggling getting Google to accept for phone and tablets. I like the sound of "And you can make backup of your project for smartphones and then edit it for tablets". Could you expand and explain that a little further?
