I'm building an app that would need to pull the call logs from the phone, in appery I see I could pull the contacts but I see nothing about call logs...

Is it the only way? does not seem practical by exporting the appery app to IDE then it would take appery out of the loop...

Being able to add plug-ins to Appery.io is something we are working on.
