Hello! Could you clarify what external file you mean?
an image file that i want to use. the icon images on there say they are 256x256. i assumed it would be just like changing an asset of an image but it doesnt seem to get added when i go to app settings, ios binary, browse, upload image, (it gets confirmed), then i close it, and ..nothing is there. it works fine with images, but i cant use my icons which i want to.

You can't use icon with size 256x256, as iOS icon, because available only next sizes: 57x57, 114x114, 72x72, 144x144 for this.
