I have a very simple app that itself, contains no images. Yet the app size is over 70 mb? Seems very high? Why is this?
My guess is due to numerous launch screen sizes and icons. Are ALL of these necessary? How do various iOS devices handle displaying these if the exact for the device isn't present? Is it possible / advisable, to only use 1 or 2 Launch screen images to save size?

Could you please clarify how you measure the size of your app?
Appery.io uses Cordova for packaging binary files for mobile platforms, some of them needs all screen sizes files included like Apple for different screen resolutions for Retina and other for the back compatibility.
Size as show in the App store itself. @70 MB.

It is very doubtful that the launches images could cause this behavior.
