I replace it with # instead and saved
but in quick mobile testing the code takes the user to keypad screen .. and also without #

which gateway do you intend to use,
I have successfully setup a service with txtnation.co.uk,
it very easy,api, number is sent in this format for uk 447709777444, for other countries just drop the zero that was there before and add country code
