How to setup push messaging

Hi

I am trying to setup push messaging for Android. Your doc http://docs.appery.io/tutorials/sendi... in reference to Google is outdated. It does not seem that Google provies an API Key.
This is what I get from Google
Project ID: mobile-001 Project Number: 774782276335 Can I presume that the Project Number is the API Key you refer to?

Anyway I have entered this into the App Settings.

Now I get the error in appery.io when I want to send a push message from the console.

You don't have registered devices.

This happens as soon as I tick the Android Check box.
Please help

Did you install the app on the device? When you launch the app for the first time, it will be registered and you will get a count of 1 in the console (for Android).

How to setup push messaging

Yes. App launched and installed on phone. Selected Android Devices shows 1 in appery console. I can send the message.
Google Cloud Console does not seem to receive it. Requests = 0.

  1. Please update your documentation.
  2. What is the difference betwwen API key that appery.io requests and Project Number from google? Is it the same thing?
  3. I see there is the facility in Google Cloud Console to Register apps. Do I need to do this? Your documentation does not say so.

Hi Deon,

  1. We'll update our documentation.

  2. [quote:]What is the difference betwwen API key that appery.io requests and Project Number from google? Is it the same thing?[/quote]Create an app and use the Api Key you get. See screenshots:

No still not working.

What is the API key under Settings for in the Push Messaging Console. This is not the same as the API key I received from Google and when I press reset it generates some random key that I dont know what it is for.

How to setup push messaging

Hello! Do you mean this key (see http://docs.appery.io/documentation/b... - see Push_Notifications_Settings)? It's another key used to send push messages through Appery.io back-end using REST API (http://docs.appery.io/documentation/b... - see Push_Notifications_API)
