Launch Image - Clear Understanding of How to upload and have clean images

Maryna I have tried that.. I select the image it shows as one to be selected replacing the deafult image.... but then nothing shows up in source side....

I strongly suggest someone from your team trying doing it... Thats what I explained earlier....

2 save project
3 refresh android resources
4 rename "splash.png" to splash.9.png
We have made this change in shared project, please check and let us know result.

That worked...But there seems to be an issue with the image once uploaded.. It appears squashed / condensed ... Is it to do with how nine patch images have to be made. That is I'm making the nine patch file wrong.. I am following the same resolution specifications.

It appears that the 426 width is converted to 320 width.. Can we upload 320x426?

Can you throw some light on how one has to process these images..unless it is outside your scope

For creation 9patch image you can use program "draw9patch". It can show you how your image would look like on devices with different screens

You have chosen not very good image for splash. But you can get better result even using this image. For example, you can use two horizontal pixels. One left from "Partyopia", the other right. And two vertical pixels. One lower from "Partyopia", the other higher.

Thanks that helped... for beginers I woud say the draw 9 patch tool is a must... after playing around with it ..I was able to get the image show up on launch screen as I wanted...

I have one more question...the image though getting stetched properly ... appear unclear, blurred of low quality...even though on desktop it appears fine... what is the reason behind this...? What dpi resolution should I adopt... so far I have only uploaded 426x320 image and I am testing on samsung note 2 which is 320x420 resolution. ..thx for helping again

Hi Ankur,

For the best quality you can create splash image for every dimension available in Appery.io (470x320, etc). It’s important to note that 9-patch images don’t scale down – they only scale up. So it’s best to start as small as possible. That is, for your device with small screen (320x420) you might try to create a smaller picture and load it through page "Source".

Well I havent tried doing this.. but if the picture is smaller then once it becomes big will it not pixelate...?

Hence I am unclear with what u suggesting... Are you suggesting that I upload the 426x320 launch image first then I go to the source and try to replace it with an image of lower resolution...while changing its name..gving it splash.9.png ?

Yes you are right. We suggest you upload the 426x320 launch image first then I go to the source and try to replace it with an image of lower resolution and rename it.
And try using other picture very simple picture for your experience. For example white background with small good quality picture in the center.

I used a path 9 tool to make my launch images and then changed the splash.png to splash.9.png and now I am getting a build error when trying to create my .apk file. It is the only thing I have done different with the app settings so I am thinking this is the problem. Please advise.

you need to delete from the source tab the black ones with splash.png names.
once I done this the build worked
