I have a selectitem with 10 values. Every time when i set a valiue to a localvariable and want to read it again, a wrong item will be selected for the first time. When I open this page again, then its OK. It looks like a bug, but do you have other workarounds to show the right selected item for the first time? I have also tried a refresh on the item, but hope that somebody has the golden answer.
