Max, This definitely did fix the issue with apps not updating correctly, however the beep function no longer seems to work. I don't need it, but someone else may, so just a heads up.
I've only tested beep & vibe. Vibe is still working correctly. Not sure if it impacted any other functions or not.

I just tried it again after power cycling my phone. Seems to work, as you said.
