Hello, I did download the xcode project for 2 apps, one was built successfully and upload it to the apple store another gave me the same problem !!
Paul are you using the appery builder with modification of the plist file or xcode and which version of appery 3.0 or 2.3 or 2.2 ?

1 I save a version of the project
2 do the
3 export the ipa
4 then revert back to the saved version without modification to the plist.

I have the same problem. Nothing to do with IPA. As I'm not a profesional programmer, Xcode for me it is like a boing 747.
Need help to make just IPA file with no problems.
