How to get phone number from the mobile phone

I need to get the phone number of the phone itself so that data sent to Parse is branded with that number.

Effectively each user's data in Parse would be able to be filtered by the phone number.

i don't think it's possible for security reasons, as far I know user has to type the number but I could be wrong, that's what I recall form one of the articles about phonegap
