Programatically display an image?

I have uploaded some image assets to my app. What I would like to do is display certain images based on a case or similar. With that said, it would be even better to use the file repository in my database and display the images from there. A huge .hide isn't going to work either, way too much information.

You can add/remove image element into the DOM in run time.
