Using the mic input in a search box

Hello
I have a search box and when I click in it, I get the keyboard along with the mic key (on Android at least).
However, when I click on the mic button, the mic interface comes up but immediately goes away and reverts to the keyboard.
Do I need to enable anything to access mic input in my search box?

I'm testing my app through the appery.io android app.
