How does query builder for push notification works with geolocation since there is no location info in 'Devices' collect

Hi, I have one question regarding push notifications and geolocation.
In http://devcenter.appery.io/documentat...
in the 'Using a query builder' section, it is said:
'For the geolocation data type, you can also define the maxDistance parameter'
I don't get how it works since the location of the device is not known in the native fields of the 'devices' collection ?
Is this feature native or do we have to use some specific mecanism or customize the 'devices' collection ?
