Distinct Values from DB to Select Menu

I tried to get distinct values to a select menu, but I get undefined as response. when I test the service, it prints out the distinct values, but they do not show up on the select list. I tried to do as the last answer in this post: https://getsatisfaction.com/apperyio/...

but I can't find where the "." is. seems like it is an old answer. How can I do that with the current mapping?
