how do i create a list of headings within an email_message textbox? I can't get any code to work

I want to create an email which already has headings or a table with those headings in a column. The app will add the content by clicking on the 'checkbox' elements. how do i achieve these two things? I am not a coder but nothing I put into 'invoke javascript' works, tearing my hair out!
