Ionic Modals - tutorial/guide

Hi
Anyone how knows about a short guide to the Modal feature in Ionic.
I have a list which shows the values from my database. The Modal screen is defined and the modal function is invoked.
But the values are not passed from the list item to the modal screen. Any ideas?

Thanks but it is not working. I've spent many hours on this simple function. Is this shown in the "components example" or in a tutoria somewhere?
