I wonder why barcode scanner code is attached to Android for a freshly created app?
Please have a look: http://screencast.com/t/ujuP58tvrq. I bet it consumes some space - can I easily delete this folder? Or I'll brake some dependencies or something else goes wrong with the whole app when this folder gets removed? Of course I don't need barcode scanner in my app.

This is feature of the projects in Appery.io, if you delete something on the Source tab, this can cause that your application will not be built.
So how can I remove the Barcode Scanner functionality as I do not need it?

You do not have this functionality until you won't add barcode_service as in this tutorial:
