Filtering out "blank" emails from contact api

nuB question: I am trying to create contact list using the contact service. I would like to filter out any contact that has no email address associated with it, and display the rest in a list. What is the easiest way for me to do this?

Thanks Alena. If this had been a database, I can write a query. Can I do this for the device contact service as well? This appery service does not let me modify the request.
