Do communication networks matter?

Hello,

I have something of a general question (I am not too knowledgeable about how apps work). I want to create an app which would be more towards private use or shared with friends (thus I could give the .apk to a friend or simply share the link to where it is hosted at appery for example?) I would prefer not to publish to any stores.

I have tried this (but on two phones I've tried to access the hosted link for example; I haven't had success) - I am wondering if the problem could be related to communications network that is used. For example Vodafone vs AT&T, in other words: will the apps developed on appery have problems working in other countries than USA where the communications network may be different? Or will this have no effect on the working of the app?

This link works in my browser via computer, but the two phones I've tried to access this link could not load the page (via phone internet browser). I am guessing the problem could be type or versions of browsers or something like that? For example I have a really old phone with old OS (it cannot run Adroid higher than 2.1). Although I can access most other internet links on my phone.

Am I misunderstanding how the app can be used? Sorry I am learning as I go along

You're not able to load the page on device at all, or there are problems with some specific services/pages? I was able to open the link on Android 2.3.3

The page did not load at all. If it opened on Android 2.3.3 - that is good news! (Then I assume the problem is the old phones) I will test with someone else's phone then.
