When I started building my app, I chose "Master Detail iPad Page" for my first page so I get the narrow left column and wider right column.
I want to change the layout of this page so that it's just a blank iPad page. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, you can't change the default layout of this page.
Ok, is there any way to replace this page? I've just got a button in there to go to the page I want to appear but that's not ideal
You can create new 'Master-detail iPad page' set it as 'Start page' in App Settings and delete the previous one.
But I don't want that layout for the start page. The page that is going to be used as the first page of the app is just a big image with a logo and a button in the middle as per the attached. 
Any ideas on this?

If you don't want to use this layout, use the Phone App template in this case.

I don't think I'm making myself clear.
I have built an app.
The first screen is a "Master Detail iPad" page called home.
This is the only page that appears in the Start Page drop down in the app settings
If I add a new page called HomeNew and make it a blank iPad page, this does NOT appear in the Start Page drop down in the app settings.
It seems that the only option for the start page is a Master Detail iPad page.
All I want is for my start page to be able to look like the page in the attachment.
To add... If I set one of my other pages are the Default Content then it gets squashed into the right hand column.
You can't set other page as a start page except the 'Master Detail iPad page' in Tablet App template.
