Hiring developers

If I want to hire a developer who already has a paid account with Appery.io, I still have to purchase a seat for them?

Also, when I check the price it says I currently pay $108/yr for standard plan, which I understand is no longer valid. If I add a seat, will I lose the $108 I just paid? When I add a second seat to a standard pan the cart says I owe the full price for both.

I'm really struggling with the new prices. It feels like you don't want independent dev teams to use Appery.io any more. Too bad.

If someone has a paid plan in Appery.io, you don't necessarily need to buy them a user seat. If you want all the work to be under the same account, then you could purchase a user seat for that developer.

If you make changes to an older plan (before Feb 11), you will need to switch to the new plan. As for pricing, if you buy the annual plan, you will pay only $19/month/developer.

If I just bought my plan in January, I should be credited for what I spent. Instead it not only charges me full price, $225, but when I add a second seat it doesn't just double, but adds a few more dollars to total $453. If you want people to buy annual accounts you can't change everything the next month and charge us again. Is that not clear?

If I am hiring someone, I want them to work in my account because I am the owner of their work. I also want to follow the progress. force me to purchase them another account if they have already purchased one? That seems like a HUGE mistake.

BTW - this developer purchased their account the same time I purchased mine because I asked them to be prepared for upcoming jobs. At that time THAT was the procedure, now you changed it and it is a costly, expensive and discouraging change.

Don't worry, I realize I won't win this argument, or else you would have addressed my concern in your reply, but I'm not going to rolled by a company without pointing it out publicly and, at least, making you aware of the damage you are doing in hopes that you really are concerned and didn't intend these consequences.

We are not trying to force you to buy anything. It's entirely up to you how many users seats you want to buy and under what account.

You can keep the old pricing as long as you want however, if you make any changes to the account, you will need to switch to the new plans. It's described here: http://blog.appery.io/2014/02/upcomin... . We also sent out an email.

I understand that new team account/sharing doesn't fit everyone but we had to make this change to allow for new team-based features and sharing coming in the near future.

As for price, looks like you are trying to buy an annual plan:

$19/m * 12(months) = $228 * 2(users) = $456

If you are changing from an exiting plan, the account should be prorated. If that's not happening, then we need to look into that.

If you would like to cancel one of the paid accounts and add a second user under your (different) account, send us an email and we will figure out how to make this work.

Hope this helps...

Hi Max,

Thanks for your help and explanations. I'm sure, like you said, that the shopping cart problems could be ironed out via email if I go that route.

Please don't feel that the comments are directed at the support team. All of the developers who I have asked to test Appery were amazed by the support team and how helpful you are.

I have been highly vocal to both my developers and those in my community that I am exposed to as I work with Tech Alliance (http://www.techallianceco.org/) and TechSpace (http://www.meetup.com/TechSpaceRedmond/). (Yes, tech exists outside CA!)

I had hoped to work more closely and introduce Appery to more developers instead of being pushed away.

I would welcome being contacted in private so I could share how deep my concerns are with trusting the new direction and honestly share the damage it's doing without everything we discuss ending up on Google the next day.

I too had this moment as I'm looking to hire someone to do some work. I expected grandfathering in, included the old add a seat, it's frustrating. Enough where I'm looking into other options.

You can still easily work with any number of developers on an app. The only requirement that has been updated -- is that all developers need to be under the same account in order to share an app. For instance, if today you have 2 developers (user seats), you can easily add a 3rd user seat to the account.

You can send me an email to max at appery.io.

Come on Max, please don't speak to me like I'm stupid. If you read anything either of us have said so far, you KNOW it's not "easy" or we wouldn't be having this conversation.
