Google Map doesn't show map in IONIC App after changing page away and back

I've got an IONIC app that shows a Google Map with 100's of markers that works well until I navigate to a different page.

When I return, the actual map doesn't show, just the makers.

no need any longer, please close ticket.

I have decided to remove the built in side menu and animate one myself so I do not have to change pages.
I found the page load was a little slow for some reason, and coupled with the map not showing I feel I've made a good choice.

I was surprised how easy it was to animate my new menu in any direction staying on the same page each time.
